The rough terrain and tricky roads from Manali to Leh is not meant for all. The hair pin bends, serpentine routes and a lonely path with the chilling Himalayan winds creates a tough journey for a rider. Riding on these roads is a challenge many people take in a year but a very few are courageous enough to pursue it. With an experienced rider group one may always triumph the extreme conditions and get Leh’d.

Day 1: Reach Leh

After reaching Leh you will get accommodated in your hotel/guest house. Relax in the night as the journey to Manali can easily take a toll on people.

Day 2: Bike Day (40-50 km)

Today you will receive your bike and the full day will be utilized to get you accustomed to the bike and terrain. The day will be also used to introduce you to the coming terrain and safety norms for driving in the mountains.

Day 3: Leh - Nubra Valley (135km)

This ride takes you closer to the wilderness. Ride over the Khardungla Pass and reach the Nubra Valley. The high altitude cold desert is a distinct landscape in the region. Dinner and overnight at Nubra Valley. 

Day 4: Nubra Valley - Thikshey (160 km)

Thiksey is home of the Thiksey monastery which is famous for its location and architecture. The 10 storeyed temple resembles the Potala Palace in Lhasa gaining the name "Mini-Potala". It has become a famous movie shooting locations and films like "Dil Se" and "Tashan" were shot here.

Day 5: Thikshey - Pangong Tso (150 km)

The lake made famous by the movie "3 Idiots" has become a major destinations for both riders and non-riders. The lake stretches between India and China and creates a mesmerizing view in summers with clear blue sky on top and and a crstal clear lake on bottom. Dinner and overnight at camp site.

Day 6: Pangong Tso - Thikshey (150 km)

Your riding journey ends today and it will ache your heart parting away from the loyal companion. Dinner and overnight at Thikshey.

Day 7: ThiksheySarchu (240 km)

Today’s ride will take you on a zigzag journey. The curves and bends of the roads and age old glaciers on the sides will create a surreal image for riders. Do not get lost in it. At the end of the day's ride you will reach the Sarchu plateau and build campsite there.

Day 8: Sarchu - Keylong (100 km)

The bumpy path is a challenge for anyone who rides on these roads. The ride along the Beas rives takes you across local establishments which will expose you to the life in the Himalayas. Overnight at camp.

Day 9: Keylong - Manali (145 km)

The ride from Keylong to Manali passes through the Rohtang Pass (4050m/13,287 ft.), which in Tibetan means “pile of dead bodies”. You can imagine the level of courage one needs to drive through this pass. Overnight at Manali.

Day 10: Back Home

After enjoying the ride in beautiful Leh-Ladakh you leave the beautiful city behind and head back home.  


How to reach Manali

By Flight:
The Leh City airport is the best way to reach. It is near city and you get taxi and cabs for Leh city easily form the airport.

Do's and Dont's

For the ride, carry the following things:

  • Riding Jacket
  • Riding Gloves
  • Riding Glasses
  • Riding Boots
  • Socks
  • Waist Pouch
  • Slippers
  • Head lamp and flashlights
  • Medicines, if any
  • Rucksack/saddle bags/tank bags with water proof covers
  • Rain Coat
  • Muffler and scaf
  • Sun screen

In case you get your own bike

  • Original papers of your bike and insurance paper
  • Original IDs 
  • Extra front and rear tubes
  • Extra headlight bulbs 
  • Duplicate set of keys


  • Do not consume alcohol before the start and during the ride.
  • Do not litter the Himalayas during your stay there.

Services Provided:

  1. An experienced road captain accompanies during the entire ride.
  2. Bike (500 cc Royal Enfield) and Fuel.
  3. An expert mechanic of Royal Enfield, Bajaj Pulsar and Karizma
  4. For groups with more than 15 riders, a back up vehicle will be provided
  5. Lodging: Double bed room ro tented accomodation on twin sharing basis
  6. Breakfasts on all days. Dinners at Sarchu, Thikshey and Pangong Tso.
  7. Proper medical kit with Oxygen mask
  8. Permits for visiting all the places that we cover in the trip.
  9. A refundable deposit of INR 10,000 will be collected from all riders, the cost of maintenance shall be deducted from it if at all there is  a damage to the bike at the end of te day.

Anshuman Naik

Anshuman Naik is a freelance Graphic/Web designer from Ahmadabad, Gujarat. A travel enthusiast whose definition of travel, once upon a time, like most other people around him, was limited to vacations to the typically crowded and commercial tourist destinations of India.

He started riding bikes to the north more than 10 years back and has covered the rides in Gujarat, J & K, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. 

He established started taking out guided tours in 2010 with a motto "to take riders and travelers on a ride that would be the most unforgettable and exhilarating experience of their lives".
