Day 1: Dehradun – Sankari
You will be picked up from Dehradun railway station and driven to Sankari. This drive is of around 10 hours and during this time you can enjoy the scenery changing from plains to the high Himalayan ranges. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Sankari – Jadu-Ka-Talab
Today you will trek for around 5 hours (4 km) and gain around 3,000 feet in height. Due to the height gain you may experience heavy breathing. So walk at a normal pace and no need to hurry. Enjoy the scenery. Along the trail you will witness the beautiful pine and maple forest, ice-cold streams and at the end you will enter a beautiful meadow where you will camp at night. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
Day 3: Jadu-Ka-Talab – Kedarkantha Base
Today you trek for around 2-3 hours (4 km) and gain around 2,000 feet in height. Today’s trail mostly contains ridges, so you are required to walk with caution. Along the way you may spot shepherd’s hut where they take shelter while grazing their cattle. You will camp again at a green lush meadow land. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
Day 4: Kedarkantha Base – Kedarkantha peak – Hargaon camp
Today you ascend to the peak which is just a 1,000 feet high hike. From the summit enjoy the view and the 360 degree panoramic view of the Himalayan ranges surrounding you. Later, you will descend to the base camp and have lunch there. After that, you will descend to the Hargaon campsite. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
Day 5: Hargaon camp – Sankari
Today you will further descend to Sankari and cross a dense pine forest. Dinner and overnight at guest house.
Day 6: Sankari – Dehradun
After breakfast you will be driven back to Dehradun railway station. You will reach between 6pm and 7 pm. Book tickets for return accordingly.
How to reach
The nearest airport is Dehradun airport and Dehradun Airport is around 30 km away from it. There are frequent flights between Dehradun and New Delhi International airport. There are taxis available from the airport to railway station.
Dehradun railway station is situated at the heart of the city and daily trains are available between Delhi and Dehradun.
Dehradun is well connected with Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi via NH 58.
