The amount of snow at the trek teases every trekker to take up the challenge. Forests coupled with impressive views of the Himalayas is a treat to the shutterbugs. Brahmatal reveals a heavenly facet in winter when the snow gently falls on it slopes. The frozen lake with the mighty Himalayan peaks overlooking it, creates a mesmerising ambience. The trekkers are awed by the views of summits over 7000 metres.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathgodam - Wan

It is a small village which can be reached by bus or a private jeep in 8-10 hours from Kathgodam Railway Station. We will make the arrangements to reach Wan from Kathgodam. Dinner and overnight in camp.

Day 2: Wan - Brahmatal 

During your trek you will be crossing villages of Kodima and Tibudi and reach the peaceful land of Brahmatal, surrounded by the Himalayan peaks. Enjoy your night under the million stars and do wake up early to witness the mesmerising sunrise. Dinner and overnight at camp. 

Day 3: Brahmatal - Bekaltal - Lohajung 

You will witness the confluence of Kali and Pindali Rivers, the splendid views of Navali Bugyal (meadow) and the gleaming Khopdaliya lake. Dinner and overnight in the camp near Lohajung. 

Day 4: Lohajung - Kathgodam 

After an early morning breakfast we will drive back to Kathgodam and you will reach in 8-10 hours.

How to reach

By Flight
The nearest airport to Kathgodam is at Pantnagar and is about 53 km from Kathgodam.

By Train
Kathgodam railway station is well connected with daily trains from Dehradun, New Delhi and Lucknow.

By Road
Kathgodam is well connected to Delhi (275 km), Lucknow (50 km) and Dehradun (288 km). There are daily bus transits between these stations by the state transport corporation.

 

Do's and Dont's

Do's

• Things to Carry:

  • Backpack 40 - 60 Liters (Only carry the things required for trek)
  • Hiking/Trekking pants/trousers and shirts (Avoid using jeans and wear comfortable clothings)
  • Good ankle-length hiking shoes. Make sure your shoes are not new as they cause shoe bites easily 
  • Flash light with extra batteries (These will be required at night when you need guidance to walk along the camp site)
  • Sunglasses and Caps.
  • Hiking poles (optional) (This depends on your fitness level)
  • Sunscreen  (Get a high SPF sunscreen as sun burns are common phenomenon at high altitudes)
  • Camera (optional)
  • Water bottle
  • Warm jacket/pullover (Make sure they are water resistant)
  • Warm gloves
  • Warm socks (at least 3 pairs)
  • Raincoat
  • Prescribed medication (if any)
  • Personal Medication If Any 
  • Back Pack Cover 
  • Eco-bags

Don'ts

• Do not consume alcohol during your trek.
• Do not litter the Himalayas during your stay there.
